Why do I want to run a web hosting company?

There are already so many out there, right? The thinking is that this whole website thing is fun, and an adventure. Mission critical websites will not want to be hosted here. I am using a small server and intend to host small sites (business or personal).

Why do you want me to host your site?

I have just set up a few sites of my own and discovered that hosting them myself was preferable to letting someone else do it. Some hosting companies give you very little freedom as to what you can put on your site, by way of storage requirements, cgi capabilities, etc. Others force you to put their advertising on your site. Neither approach appealed to me so I went on my own. Well let me tell you, that was a journey. I've gone through it and feel that I can help others go through it with minimal pain to them. I will guide you through every step of the way. If you want something on your site and I don't know how to do it, I will find out. I have over twenty five years of software development experience to help ensure that your site will work the way you want it to.

Pricing

For hosting, I am charging $15CAD per month. This includes the hosting, the setup, and help on the website (if desired).
If you want me to build your website for you (with your design input of course), I will charge a flat fee. I thought about charging by the hour and quickly discarded that idea. Charging by the hour would make the price grow out of reach very quickly, and I thought that defeated the purpose of webhosting with me. The fee will depend on what you want. If you need a really huge site, then I will naturally charge a bit more than otherwise. The base fee is $100CAD. (I will definitely give you an idea of what it's going to cost before I start working on it).
Updates. I will do minor updates to your website for free (whether you made the site or I did). Major updates I will charge for. The cost will be a flat rate starting at $50CAD and increasing if the size of the update is more significant. Just as with me building your site, I will let you know what the update will cost before I start on it.
